2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)
If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

These words were spoken to Solomon after he had completed the temple of the Lord and the royal palace; also after he had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and the palace (2 Chr. 7:11).  The Lord appeared to him at night and said many things (see 2 Chr. 7:12-22).

The opening verse is a wonderful promise from the Lord; a very powerful if/then passage.  The Lord simply asked His people to do four things:
• humble themselves
• pray
• seek My face
• turn from their wicked ways

IF His people obey, THEN the Lord will:
• hear from heaven
• forgive their sin
• heal their land

This Word from the Lord applies to our lives today.  The Lord never asks His people to do anything His Word does not support.  We should be humble (James 4:10, 1 Pet. 5:6).  We should pray (Matt. 5:44, Eph. 6:18).  We should seek God (Deut. 4:29, Isa. 55:6, Matt. 6:33).  We should turn from our wicked ways (Jer. 15:19, Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30).  IF we do not do these four things, THEN we are disobedient.  The Lord loves obedience.  We demonstrate our love for Him as we walk in obedience to His commands (2 John 6).  All of us should want God to hear from heaven, for our sins to be forgiven, and for God to heal our land.  God never lies.  IF we do the four things He has asked us to do, THEN He will fulfill His promises to us.

Everyday we navigate if/thens.  Perhaps some of these apply to the reader:
• If I exercise, then I will be healthier
• If I mow the grass now before it gets too long, then I won’t have to bag
• If I study consistently, then I will receive the grades I desire
• If I practice my instrument, then I will become more proficient
• If I ask my friend to forgive me, then God will be pleased
• If I go shopping now, then I won’t have to go later
• If I eat only one doughnut per week, then I will lose weight

We will live an if/then life all of our remaining days.  Together, let us follow Gods lead in 2 Chr. 7:14.  If we do so, then, we will honor God, walk in obedience, be a witness to others, and live a Spirit-filled life.
