Psalm 9:1-2 (NKJV)
I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
Poetically, this is a beautiful passage from David. Musically, its meter begs for skilled songwriters to create a melody so generations may keep this Word alive through song. Certainly, these two verses are filled with proclamations. Perhaps David developed this discipline strategy to help him in his daily, ongoing relationship with the LORD.
There are five “I wills” in this short passage.  David will:
• praise the LORD
• tell others of His wonders
• be glad in Him
• rejoice in Him
• sing praise to the LORD
As it relates to your relationship with the LORD, what “I wills” do you possess? What disciplines have you established in your life to help you keep a continued, healthy relationship with the LORD?
Romans 12:13 instructs the reader to practice hospitality. To do anything with an ounce of efficiency, practice is required. Hall of Fame quarterbacks practice. Great dancers practice. World renown chefs practice. Good parents practice their entire lives.
Practice comes with failure but practice is progress. I will read my Bible daily. I will pray every morning and evening. I will encourage one person today. I will share the LORD with others. The array of “I wills” has no end, so practice, fail, and practice again until the LORD calls you home. You may be the person that brings an individual one step closer to eternal life with God.

Our “I will” is a fitting and Spirit inspired response to “His will” being done! It’s what motivates David, and it’s what motivates us! When God is the object in our viewfinder, it becomes easier to subject ourselves to Him for all that He has done and continues to do! May God continue to work in us a holy discipline that keeps our focus and lives centered on Him.
Amen. Well said, Brother Dave.
One of my intentions this year is to be an encourager, and to try to encourage one person each day. Your meditation is a great reminder!
That is a great goal, Sharon! The world needs encouragers!
After spending some time in sports teams I’ve learned that practice, though trying, can be enhanced with others. So let us spend time with our fellows and encourage(Sharon!) one another in our goals.
